Global Warming Pundits Fear for Cairns
Severe Floods and Hurricanes Could Happen Here, warns UK based
climate change group
London, UK,1st February 2011—Tropical
Cyclone Yasi’s severity has prompted renewed speculation that major
cities in the UK could be equally at risk from extreme weather in the future.
Latest Bureau of Meteorology modelling shows Yasi making landfall at Cairns
in Queensland Australia early on Thursday morning and residents have begun
evacuating in expectation of what is expected to be a `monster storm’.
Louise Burfitt-Dons, who broadcasts on Edie and You Tube says: ‘Our
climate is changing and we have to ask ourselves if we are taking the situation
seriously enough.’
She cites a recent poll taken suggested that more than a third of people
in the UK think that man-made global warming has been exaggerated.
The Global Warming Alliance held a conference at the Institute of Physics
on the 6th June 2008 to present their research findings on the increased
activity of extra tropic cyclones as a result of global warming and in particular
the threat to London.
