Louise Burfitt-Dons to Chair Women’s Day Debate
Louise Burfitt-Dons to chair Dartmouth House Debate in the historic Churchill Room on International Women’s Day.
London, UK (January 14th)–Humanitarian Louise Burfitt-Don’s FRSA will chair an evening event examining different ways men and women communicate on Tuesday, March 8th at Dartmouth House, 37 Charles Street, London W1J 5ED. The list of speakers includes Chief Executive of the RSA, Matthew Taylor, Hamish Forsyth from the PM’s Advisory Unit, LBC Talk Show host and Apprentice runner up James Max, Jane Gunn FRSA, author of `Bedlam in the Boardroom, Boredom in the Bedroom’, Judith Perle FRSA, co-author of `The Network Effect’ , former CEO of Business Link and budding entrepreneur Deborah Wharton FRSA.
The debate is entitled: Working together: Do women get their point across well? Are men responsive to female talk? Too many women complain they are not. New research identifies `feminine’ and `masculine’ thinking. But can it help us communicate better?
Louise comments, ‘This is a light-hearted, fun topic. Everyone can relate to the subject personally. My concern for International Women’s Day however lies in the following. Is women’s voice being fairly represented across the broad sweep of economic, social and humanitarian issues? If not, and speech styles are the reason why, we may be able to suggest helpful advice to corporations as well as women in general. ’
The RSAWSN is a fellow-led initiative whose mission is to raise women’s profile in society by greater involvement in public speaking. Began last year by Burfitt-Dons as an inspirational exercise to encourage women to speak out more, the network comprises female fellows which the RSA describes as `achievers and influencers from an extraordinary range of backgrounds’.
